Miss
Oklahoma Treats Jones Academy Students in Hartshorne!

Miss Oklahoma -
Taylor Treat - visited with the Jones Academy student body on September 16,
2009, in Hartshorne, OK.
Ms.
Treat spoke to the students on the importance of service and community
involvement. Miss Oklahoma is also a representative of Service-Learning, a
nation-wide program, designed to educate young people and teachers about the
benefits of combining education with service projects to help the community.
While in Washington D.C. the previous day, Ms. Treat was told by
Service-Learning staffers that they were aware of the Learn and Serve program at
Jones Academy.
During her presentation, Ms. Treat related personal stories of setbacks and successes in her life. She encouraged the academy students to set personal goals for themselves and to persevere through adversity and hardships. At the end of her talk, Ms. Treat answered questions from the audience and did a brief ballet demonstration. This event was truly a special treat for the students!
